about beth charbonneau, LCSW-C, maryland therapist & Coach

therapy in college park & maryland

There are a lot of therapists in Maryland! How do you find the right one for you? You’re looking for someone that understands the challenges you are going through, has the knowledge and experience to help you make meaningful progress, and is a decent fit with the way you communicate, your personality, maybe even your sense of humor.

My name is Beth Charbonneau and I became a therapist because I wanted to work one-on-one with people looking to suffer less and enjoy life more, and truly believe therapy is an effective tool for that.

I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work and over 20 years of experience in providing individual therapy. Some of my clients are looking for practical, action-oriented tools that we work on in sessions and they can employ in their daily lives right away. Others are looking for assistance in making sense of the big picture of what’s going on inside and planning a path to feeling better. My specialties include anxiety treatment, mindfulness based therapy, hypnotherapy, & embodied healing. I have decades of experience and training in meditation, yoga therapy, qi gong and ecstatic dance that provide me with a wide range of tools for helping interested clients find more presence and ease in their bodies and minds. If that all sounds a bit fringe to you, that’s totally fine! I’ve got you covered with training and expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and love a good, practical plan. You’ll find that I take my work seriously, but not myself, and stay open and flexible to find an approach that is tailored for each unique client. Some of the populations I love working with include young adults/college students finding their footing in the world, midlife professionals reassessing and exploring change and growth, and facilitating therapy for LGBTQIA+ clients at all points in their journeys.
