mindfulness based therapy in maryland

Where did the day go? You know that you did a million things, from morning until night, but you’re not feeling like you were really present for many of them. The stress is real but you also don’t want to miss your life as it keeps zooming by, day after day, year after year. Despite best intentions, things just keep getting away from you—and you keep reacting, or avoiding, in the same old ways, and those ways aren’t always serving you well. There’s only so much you can do about the way some life events unfold, but it’d be nice to find some more stability in the midst of all the ups and downs.

Suffer less; enjoy more

I’m Beth and I love working with adults who are looking to decrease their suffering and increase their joy in life. A mindfulness approach to therapy allows us to observe how that suffering and joy is showing up in your body, your thoughts, your emotions and behaviors; and then gives us an opportunity to make strategic changes to support you in moving towards the life you are longing to live.

When we have the ability to calm our nervous systems, to pause and observe ourselves without judgment, we increase our clarity and confidence about taking wise actions that are hopefully going to make things better for ourselves, not harder on ourselves. These are skills that can be learned—skills for attention and focus, skills for gently attending to our bodies, skills for knowing what we are feeling and how to compassionately meet our own needs.

Compassionate care with mindfulness based therapy in Maryland.

For more than 20 years, I’ve brought practices of mindfulness, meditation, yoga therapy, qi gong and JourneyDance to groups and individuals longing to find more peace and vitality here and now. My decades of the study and practice of mindfulness informs my approach to therapy and can be incorporated into treatment for anything that brings you in for support, with the goals of increasing joy, reducing suffering where we can, and bearing the suffering that we cannot change with as much compassion and courage as possible.

Most individual clients work with me weekly to make consistent progress towards their goals. I see clients in-person in College Park, and online throughout the state of Maryland. Coaching for mindfulness is available online from any location. See my Coaching page for more information.
